Easter Elchies House proudly watches over The Macallan distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Built in the 1700, this Jacobean manor house is The Macallans spiritual home. CURIOUSLY SMALL STILLS. The Macallan's curiously small and uniquely shaped copper stills help to concentrate the flavour of the 'new make' spirit. THE FINEST CUT. The 'cut' is the amount of distilled spirit collected from the stills. The Macallan takes one of the finest 'cuts' of any distillery in Scotland; only the best of the best, typically just 16% is selected to fill our casks. This distinctly robust and characterful 'new make' spirit is the starting point for all Macallan. EXCEPTIONAL OAK CASKS. The Macallan Fine Oak is matured in a unique, complex combination of bourbon and sherry oak casks. American oak casks, which have previously held bourbon or sherry, impart a subtle, delicate colour with hints of apple, floral aromas, citrus fruit notes and toffee sweetness. Meanwhile, European oak casks, which have previously held sherry, impart a deep, rich colour with hints of dried fruit and spice. This cask combination delivers a delightfully smooth, delicate yet complex Single Malt. NATURAL COLOUR. At The Macallan, natural colour is something we insist on.
